The WALGA AGM took place on May 28!

WALGA's Annual General Meeting took place last week. Here's an overview of the progress made towards our objectives, which have contributed to the evolution of the Walloon ecosystem in 2023. 🥳

Of course, we continue to support the development of Walloon video game studios, particularly in the creation of their own intellectual property. 🎮 We facilitate the emergence of new studios (start-ups) and the development of their business. ⏩ Over 20 new studios have been created in 2022 and 2023 🚀 The association also boasts over 200 members today!

With the arrival of the Tax Shelter for video games on January 1, 2023 ⏩ nearly 3 million euros were invested in Belgium in the first year. In 2022 and 2023, we were also able to count on investments from Wallimage Gaming with 4 million euros and the Center du Cinéma et de l'Audiovisuel with 1.2 million euros 📈

On the e-sports and streaming side, we support and encourage the growth of these sectors, while creating synergies with video game developers. ⏩ Nearly a dozen ASBLs have been set up with our help, and we count more than 25 organizations among our members. ✌️

As far as training is concerned, we can look forward to September 2023, when the HEPL - Haute Ecole de la Province de Liège opened its first Bac Master year in collaboration with the Haute École Albert Jacquard ! Other synergies are also taking shape with, for example, the involvement of the Haute Ecole Provinciale de Hainaut-Condorcet and HEH.be - Haute École en Hainaut in the Master's program with HEAJ 🏫

Finally, we have set up new premises in our four Video Game Centers in Wallonia: Mons (Manège de Sury), Charleroi (Quai10), Namur (Parc Orion) and Liège (B3 - Province of Liège) 🏘 These allow us to welcome our members wishing to use our coworking spaces, our premises equipped for E-Sports and, soon, for streaming in Charleroi. Don't hesitate to contact us if you're interested! 😀

The potential of our industry continues to grow, and we are continuing our efforts with the support of the 1TP5WalloonRegion to create an industry for the future! 🌟
